Inspection & Identification

A thorough inspection of your property and an understanding of size and severity of your rodent problem will help determine the best course of action.

1. Identify rodent species involved.
2. Determine severity and location of the problem.
3. Identify where sanitation and rodent proofing are needed

Rodent signs help determine the size of the infestation and where the rodents are traveling and feeding.

• Droppings are one of the most obvious signs of rodent activity

• • Norway Rat feces are larger (about ¾” in length) with blunt ends
  • House Mice droppings are smaller (1/4” in length) with pointed ends

• Burrows
  • Burrows are an indication of a Norway Rat problem. Norway Rats may make their nests in underground burrows, which over time will cause structural problems or damage building foundations.
  • Bulk Pellets or Meal Bait are your best options for Burrow Baiting. Rats are neophobic and will push Chunx or Place Pacs out of burrows, which could be unsafe.
  • For a large scale infestation with extensive burrow systems, plow under all burrow openings to determine which ones are active before baiting.

• Gnaw Marks
  • Mice:
    • 1/4 inch in width.
    • Holes are small, clear cut.
  • Rats:
    • 1/2 inch in width.
    • Holes are dug with rough torn edges

• Rub Marks
  • When dirt in the environment combines with oils in their skin, rub marks are left when rodents move along walls. Examining these rub marks will give you a better idea of where rodents may be traveling or feeding.
